Every once in awhile, I pack up my gear and hit the road, chasing new stories, new faces, and new experiences. But this December? I had the privilege of being part of one of my favorite events—the Las Vegas National Finals Rodeo (NFR). It's a time when everything I love about photography and storytelling collides: grit, glam, fashion, entertainment, and passion all woven together in a fast-paced, electric atmosphere.

For those who haven’t experienced the NFR, it’s nothing short of a sensory overload. Imagine the dust and determination of the rodeo, mixed with the shimmering lights of Las Vegas and the high-energy world of fashion. The adrenaline of the competition and the elegance of the western style create a unique atmosphere that is pure magic to witness. It's where cowboys, cowgirls, and creatives from all walks of life come together to celebrate a shared love of the sport, the culture, and the artistry behind it all.

One of the things I love most about being a freelance photographer is the chance to step into different worlds—worlds full of energy, history, and character—and capture their essence. And at the NFR, I found myself immersed in a place where style meets spirit. Whether it was the glossy finish of high-end western fashion, the flash of rhinestones, or the fierce passion of the people who live and breathe rodeo, everything about the NFR felt like a whirlwind of inspiration.

I didn’t photograph the rodeo action itself (this time), but the chance to capture the behind-the-scenes moments, the preparation, and the people who make the magic happen was more than enough to fuel my creativity. From the stunning models to the cowgirls gliding in their best rodeo couture, I found a canvas filled with so much life, spirit, and heart.

Meeting people from all walks of the rodeo world is something that fills me with an incredible sense of gratitude. Every person I met had a story to tell—whether they were competitors, family members, or creatives—and that’s what makes the NFR so much more than just an event. It’s a community, a lifestyle, and a celebration of passion in all its forms. And I was lucky enough to connect with some seriously talented people, who, just like me, were driven by a love of what they do.

A huge thank you to Devin Elizabeth and the entire Devine Elizabeth Equine Media team for your incredible coordination and collaboration. You all made my time in Las Vegas a seamless and inspiring experience, and I’m beyond grateful for the opportunity to work with such a talented and passionate group.

This December wasn’t just about the rodeo itself—it was about the people and the creative collaborations that make this world come alive. The NFR, with its combination of grit and glam, continues to be one of my absolute favorite times of the year.

As I reflect on this adventure, I can’t help but feel grateful for the chance to do what I do. As a freelance photographer, every project offers new horizons, new stories, and new people to meet. And while I didn’t photograph the action in the arena this time, the energy, the passion, and the creativity that I captured through my lens were just as exhilarating.

Here’s to more adventures, more collaborations, and more incredible stories to come. Until next time, Las Vegas!
