April 27th wasn’t just another Sunday—it was a full-blown engagement venture with Makayla and Heath, and let me tell you, the vibes? Immaculate.
We kicked off their session at the always-a-vibe Prime Rose in downtown Corning, Iowa. The lighting? Cozy and moody. The aesthetic? Bar glam meets Western flair. First order of business? A drink for Heath—because every man deserves a little liquid courage before being in front of the lens all afternoon. Meanwhile, Makayla came ready to slay. Between her Cowhide & Conchos jewelry and her effortless confidence, she was the vibe.
After wrapping up our Primrose shoot and capturing some glowy golden tones that had us all swooning, I managed to accidentally lock my keys in the office. Photographer problems, right? Thankfully, Makayla and Heath were the real MVPs—“Hop in, Jade!” they said, and just like that, we were off in their car, cruising toward Nodaway like it was part of the plan.
Our next stop: their sweet slice of home in the country, right behind their little homestead. Windy? Yes. Gloomy? A bit. But romantic? Absolutely. The wind caught Makayla’s hair just right, the overcast sky gave the photos a soft, cinematic touch, and the love between them warmed up the whole field. No Pinterest board could've planned it better.
Post-shoot, we made our way back to Corning and wrapped up the evening the only way we know how—Mexican food and margs. We laughed, chatted wedding plans, and I even got my keys back (shoutout to my sister for the save, love you).
Makayla and Heath, you’re the kind of couple that makes this whole job feel like a joyride with a camera. Your love is laid-back, beautiful, and ready for forever.
Special thanks to:
- Prime Rose, Corning, IA — for the perfect backdrop and bar vibes
- Cowhide & Conchos — for the stunning jewelry that totally stole the show
Stay tuned, folks—wedding magic with these two is on the way
