Sierra & Christian

Even with a misty morning and a forecast that couldn’t make up its mind, the day at Deer Ridge in Bedford, Iowa unfolded like a Midwest love story should: tender, timeless, and just unpredictable enough to keep it interesting. And just when we needed it most, the skies cleared. The ceremony remained outside, exactly how Sierra had always dreamed it.God held the rain just long enough. And that part? Kinda felt like a blessing written just for them. Their story doesn’t start on a dating app or during some cinematic chance meeting. It starts in the one place every good small-town love story begins: high school hallways. Christian—known for being charming, slightly ornery, and apparently prone to “creative studying”—used to cheat off Sierra’s homework. Sierra—sweet, smart, and always ten steps ahead—let him. From class clowns to couple goals, their connection wasn’t forced. It was familiar, easy, and already rooted in the same hometown soil.

(Their full love story is linked in another blog post—trust me, you’ll want to read it.) Fast forward a few years, a lot of life lived, and a whole lot of growing together. Christian popped the question in front of Sierra’s entire family on Christmas Eve—peak level Midwest romance. Cozy lights, loved ones watching, and the kind of moment that makes every Hallmark Christmas movie feel suddenly very realistic. Big points for boldness. Bigger points for timing. By the time the wedding day rolled around, everything came full circle. Rain clouds hovered as everyone got ready—the girls in cozy robes at Deer Ridge, the guys just down the lane at the Annex. Hair spray, steaming dresses, coffee cups, and weather reports filled the morning air. And still, there was this calmness in Sierra… a quiet confidence that the day would be perfect regardless. When Sierra stepped out for the first look, Christian’s reaction was everything you’d hope for—soft, emotional, and completely unfiltered.

(And yes, Sierra’s one request—“PLEASE capture him smiling with his teeth”—came true. He could barely stop.) Portraits flowed effortlessly. The wedding party brought all the hype. The timeline stayed beautifully on track. It was a dream to document. And then… the moment.

The clouds shifted, the wind slowed, and suddenly the rain that seemed inevitable all morning stayed away. Sierra walked down the aisle toward the boy she met in high school—the man who now looked at her like she was the only person on earth. Their vows, the view over the fields, the soft glow of the sky—everything lined up with a sense of divine timing.Sierra & Christian wanted a day that felt natural, candid, romantic, and fully “them”—from the wildflower engagement ditch to the outdoor ceremony that almost didn’t happen.

Their wedding wasn’t just beautiful. It was meaningful. It was intentional. It was the perfect next chapter for two people who have spent years growing up—and glowing up—together. Here’s to high school sweethearts. Here’s to small-town love stories. And here’s to Sierra & Christian—who make photographing love feel like the easiest job in the world.

Sierra & Christian — thank you for trusting me with your story, your memories, and the moments you’ll look back on for the rest of your lives. From the rainy morning to the wildflower ditch, from high school hallways to your Deer Ridge “I do’s,” capturing your journey has been an honor and a joy. Thank you for welcoming me into your day with open arms, laughter, and the kind of love that reminds me why I do what I do. I’m so grateful to have been a small part of this chapter, and I cannot wait to cheer you on in all the ones still to come.

Here’s to your forever.
