THANKSGIVING IN THE STORM — A FAMILY SESSION TO REMEMBER
Last November, around Thanksgiving, I photographed a session that felt like something straight out of a movie… just with a little more wind, a little more chaos. Nikki had been patiently waiting. Not just for pictures—but for snow pictures. And if you’re from the Midwest, you already know… that kind of waiting requires hope, patience, and a little bit of stubborn faith in the weather. This year, it finally happened.
Snow. The kind that doesn’t gently fall. It shows up, makes a statement, and turns everything into a scene.
WHEN LIFE ADDS A LITTLE EXTRA MAGIC
This session wasn’t just about snow. There were multiple layers unfolding at once—because that’s real life. A growing family. A new baby on the way. A season of change.
And somehow, it all lined up at the exact same time the snow decided to show up too. It felt like one of those moments where everything is shifting but in the best way.

My Thanksgiving plans had actually been canceled. Not in a sit-down-dinner kind of way…but in a “grab your camera, run into the storm, and document real life as it’s happening” kind of way.
Honestly? It was better than anything I could’ve planned.

We shot in the middle of it. Wind. Snow. Cold hands. Laughing through it. The kind of session where nothing is perfectly posed, but everything is perfectly real.
Hair blowing everywhere. That chaotic, beautiful energy you can’t fake. And those are always the sessions that end up meaning the most.
Because years from now, they won’t just remember how it looked- They’ll remember how it felt. #cold but yahknow
WHY THESE MOMENTS MATTER
This is what I love about family sessions. It’s not about perfection. It’s not about waiting for the “right” time. It’s about showing up in the middle of life— when things are changing, when things are growing, when things are a little unpredictable. Because that’s where the real story is. Nikki waited for snow pictures…but what she got was something even better. A moment in time where everything aligned. A growing family, a wild storm, and a story that now gets to live on forever.
And me?
I just feel lucky I got to be there to capture it.
