The Curry Family
Right after wrapping up Lillie’s senior session, I got to stick around for something extra special: the Curry family’s session on their farm outside Mt. Ayr, Iowa. And let me tell you — it was simply perfect.
A Family Rooted in Love and Laughter
Dan and Kim have been married for almost 20 years, and together they’ve built a life that’s as down-to-earth and full of heart as they come. Their three kids — Lillie (18), Ben (15), and JD (10) — kept me laughing the whole time. The way they tease each other and turn every moment into a joke is exactly what makes photographing families like theirs so fun.
Farm Life and Family Moments
The Currys’ place looks like something out of a Midwest postcard — apple trees heavy with fruit, cattle grazing in the distance, curious kittens darting between hay bales, dogs keeping watch, and pigs snuffling in the background. It’s not the kind of “perfect” you plan — it’s the kind you live.We wandered between the pasture and orchard, the evening light wrapping around them in gold. JD couldn’t stop making everyone laugh, Ben was quick with a smirk or eye roll that made for the best candid shots, and Lillie — just days away from heading into her senior year — stood between her parents, a perfect mix of pride and nostalgia in her eyes.
A Chapter Worth Remembering
This session meant more than just “updated family photos.” With Lillie graduating soon, this was their last family picture before she heads off to college — a milestone moment for everyone. Watching them pile together in front of the camera, arms slung across shoulders it felt like freezing time for just a second before everything changes. And that’s what I love most about what I do — capturing those small, in-between moments that become the most meaningful memories later.
The Perfect Ending
We wrapped the session with a few candid laughs and a walk back toward the house. It was one of those nights that reminded me why I adore small-town family sessions — where love, land, and laughter all come together in the same frame.
Thank you for inviting me into your world — the apple trees, the chaos, the laughter, and all. You’ve built something truly special, and it was an honor to capture it. Good luck Lille!
