Home Is Where the Farm Is
Horses, dogs, wide-open spaces, and the people who make a place feel like home. Some of my favorite sessions are the ones where we don't have to travel far to find a beautiful backdrop. Sometimes, everything worth documenting is right outside the front door. For the Hamker family, that meant spending time on their family farm, surrounded by the land, animals, and people who make their everyday life special. And if you know anything about Jade Made, you know I'm never going to complain when horses and dogs are involved!
Home Is Where the Farm Is
For the Hamkers, spending time together often means being outdoors, working on the farm, or heading out for a trail ride. So when it came time for family photos, there really wasn't a better place to document this season of life than right where so many of their memories are made.
The Four-Legged Family Members
Of course, we couldn't forget some very important members of the Hamker crew: their horses and dog! One of my favorite things about photographing rural families is incorporating the animals that are such a big part of their lives.Let's be real, animals don't always follow the photography timeline. But sometimes those unexpected moments create the photographs you'll love the most. Whether it's a horse showing off its personality or a dog wanting to be included in every photo, those little details make a family session feel personal.
A Little Posed, A Little Unplanned
The Hamkers wanted a warm, natural feel for their photographs, with a mix of traditional portraits and candid moments.
And that's exactly what I love creating. The classic family portraits deserve a place on the wall, but so do the little laughs, interactions, and moments that happen when nobody is thinking about the camera. Because the goal isn't to make your family look like everyone else's. It's to document what makes yours, yours.
To the Hamkers, thank you for inviting me into your world and trusting me to document your family, four-legged members included!
