Dirt, Dresses, and a Dragonfly — A Family Session to Remember at Platte River
Some sessions are sweet. Some are chaotic. And then there are sessions like this—the perfect mix of love, laughter, wild toddlers, and a surprise guest appearance by a dragonfly in a stolen sticky boob container. (Yep. You read that right.) When Masen and Bryce rolled up to Platte River State Park with their three littles—Wayne, Witley, and Willard—I knew we were about to have an adventure… and maybe a mess. In true family photo fashion, they brought coordinated chaos, contagious energy, and enough personality to fill up my memory cards before we even made it to the water. This wasn’t their first rodeo—they’ve been documenting their growing crew every six months since Wayne was born, so they came with one mission: keep it real. No stiff poses. No Pinterest-perfect pressure. Just moments that feel like them. Wayne, the style icon of the group, had a full lineup of stuffed animals and outfit changes on standby. Witley—equal parts animal whisperer and sass queen—came prepared with her signature death glare (don’t worry, we cracked it). And Willard? That boy's got flirt energy and a face that belongs on a billboard for baby overalls. We splashed in the water, chased giggles, and captured the beautiful chaos that is life with littles. But the real MVP moment? When the kids turned Masen’s sticky boob container into a dragonfly terrarium. Forget the sunset—that was the golden hour moment. I’m not here to just take pretty pictures—I’m here to freeze the messy, hilarious, wildly loving in-between. So here’s to this crew, their steak-loving baby, their stubborn little spitfire, and the honorary dragonfly who made the blooper reel of a lifetime.
Thank you for trusting me with your chaos. It was everything and more.
